June 2 Construction Update
? Phase 2 of the construction project was approved by the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Board in May, giving the go-ahead for construction to continue
? The Humanities building, downstairs of UHS, and Phase 1 of the LRC are the first projects scheduled to begin (possibly as soon as next week)
? There is one lane allowing traffic to access the western side of campus (Shelby, Criminal Justice, etc.)
? The main plaza of the campus will redone as part of Phase 2, which will limit access to the core buildings

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº and Texas A&M University-Texarkana officials signed an articulation agreement today at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº, formalizing a partnership benefiting students who wish to attain baccalaureate degrees.
The agreement creates a seamless transition for students enrolled in†ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº?s†Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist Assistant, Community Health and Funeral Services programs to transfer to Texas A&M University-Texarkana?s Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences program.

Texas Heritage National Bank recently gave $4,000 to the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Foundation. The funds will be used to sponsor a Presidential Scholar in Honors Northeast, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº?s nationally-recognized honors program. The Titus County Literacy Advisory Council recently honored six deserving†General Equivalency Diploma (GED) students from Northeast Texas Community†College by inducting them into the National Adult Education Honor Society†(NAEHS).†Those inducted were: (from left): Brandy Moss of Winnsboro, Angie Turnbow of Daingerfield, Carlos Landaverde of Pittsburg,†Calvin Henry of Pittsburg,†Brillana Rosas of Mount Pleasant and Emily Smith of Pittsburg.
RN program graduates 37 nurses
The Nursing Program at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº recently awarded†37†students with an Associate?s Degree in Nursing. These students are now eligible to test to become Registered Nurses.†ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº offers both RN and LVN nursing programs. ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Presidential Scholars, Jessica Velazquez of Mount Vernon and Angelica Fuentes of Mount Pleasant were recently awarded Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarships. These prestigious awards cover up to $40,000†annually at a university of the student?s choice for up to three†years. Only†75 students were selected from more than 2,000 top applicants in a very competitive process for this national honor.

Two GED grads win J. Travis Jackson scholarship
Shawna Lunsford (center) of Mount Pleasant and Brandy Moss (right) of Winnsboro were recently†presented with the J. Travis Jackson†GED†Scholarship during the†2016 GED graduation ceremony hosted by the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Adult Education Department.†This $500 award is given by the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club in memory of Jackson, who was a long time adult educator in Titus County.
