The 20th Century Study Club of Pittsburg recently gave $1,000 to help sponsor a student in the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Work Scholarship Program. Adult Education kicks off school year with 50s themed celebration

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Adult Education Program kicked off the first week of the school year with a 50s themed celebration. The program recently relocated its office from the main ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ campus to the Community Resource Center (CRC) at 105 N. Riddle, which is the old Mount Pleasant High School building that was constructed in†1927.

Glenn and Judy Weiss give matched gift for ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Morris County scholarships

Glenn and Judy Weiss of Daingerfield recently gave $750 to fund scholarships for Morris County students at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ. The gift was matched by the Chevron Corporation, the company Glenn retired from, to make a total scholarship of $1,500. Lowe's employees lend a hand at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ

Team members from Lowe?s store 1802 in Mount Pleasant stopped by the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ campus this week to lend a hand with painting classrooms. Supplies for the renovation came from Lowe?s and the store donated community service time to help complete the project in time for the fall semester. Carol Hodges supports ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Work Scholarship Program

Carol Hodges, owner of The Design Factory in Hughes Springs, recently gave a $500 gift to the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Work Scholarship Program in memory of her late husband Bruce Hodges.

The Work Scholarship Program wrapped up its third summer this week, with around 40 students participating. The program gives hard-working students the opportunity to earn money to pay for their education at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ.

The Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) Auxiliary recently presented the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Foundation with $4,500, which will provide six $750 scholarships to benefit students at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ majoring in a health sciences field. Texas Heritage National Bank gives ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Presidential Scholarship

Texas Heritage National Bank recently presented a Presidential Scholarship to Emmalea Shaw, a sophomore at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ.†The gift will cover Shaw?s academic expenses at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ for the 2016-2017 academic year.†This is the first privately-funded†gift of its kind†that Honors Northeast has received.

Shaw had a stellar first year at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ. She won a third-place $150 Caldwell Award from the State of Texas, and a $200 poetry award.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ holds Last Chance Registration next week

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ will hold Last Chance Registration event August 15-19 in the Student Union Building (SUB). Faculty and staff will be on hand to help students take care of last-minute business before classes begin August 22. Registration will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Business Technology Building to be named after Bart Scharlach

The board of the Bart Scharlach Memorial Foundation (BSMF) recently voted to move the management of the fund?s assets to the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Foundation. In doing so, the gift reached the established level to rename both the Business Technology (BT) Building and the Whatley Center Auditorium on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ campus.

The BT Building is now named the Bart Scharlach Business Technology Building, and the Whatley Center Auditorium is the Scharlach Auditorium.
