ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº wins national award for efforts in sustainability

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº recently learned that it was one of only nine community colleges nationwide to win†recognition†for its innovative agriculture programs by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).

As a recipient of the 2016 Green Genome Awards, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº was specifically honored for Program Design and Delivery in Sustainable Agriculture. The award comes with a prize of $10,000, which will be used to further sustainable agriculture efforts at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº.

Culinary Arts to host public dinner Oct. 27

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Culinary Arts Program will host a special Thursday Night Dinner on October 27. The dinner will be held at the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Culinary School in historic downtown Pittsburg and is open to the public.†
Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 3rd. Due to to high demand at previous events, the Culinary Arts Program has moved to a ticketed event rather than first-come-first-served. Tickets can be obtained only at the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Hanson-Sewell Center at†237 College Street in Pittsburg.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº was recently among all Texas colleges and universities by the website OnlineColleges.com. Colleges were ranked on a variety of factors including affordability, student services and availability of online programs.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº has drastically increased the number of online courses offered in recent years in order to better serve the changing needs of students.

Capitol Steps to perform at Whatley Center

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº will kick off its 25th anniversary season October 11 with a special presentation by Capitol Steps. They are sure to brighten up the final push to election day with their witty, hilarious political satire.


The Capitol Steps, put together by a group of former Capitol Hill staffers, puts the MOCK in democracy as they find humor in all aspects of American politics. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and all tickets are $30.

Adult Education hosts Lunch and Learn on the Lawn

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Adult Education Department held a Lunch and Learn on the Lawn for GED and ESL students and instructors this week. The Adult Education Department recently relocated to the Community Resource Center (CRC) at 105 N. Riddle in Mount Pleasant (old Mount Pleasant High school and Administration Building). They plan to have a special event each month to highlight their programs and encourage student participation. The Adult Education Department offers free GED and ESL classes at various locations around the area, including the CRC.
