ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº to host, compete in Region XIV Baseball Tourney

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº will host the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament May 12-16 at Eagle Field. The top eight teams from Region XIV will compete for the chance to play in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction Colorado later this summer.


The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Eagles enter the tournament as the top seed in the Eastern Zone of the region with a 26-10 record. The Navarro College Bulldogs earned the second spot in the zone with a 24-12 record.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Sustainable Agriculture students recently participated in a hands-on project at the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg.††Under the guidance of Assistant Professor, Chris Oefinger, the students were assigned the task of redesigning the flower bed at the center. A landscaping plan was selected from those submitted by students. The next task included, cleaning the bed, preparing the soil, planting, and replacing the weed guard and mulch.

Poster contest winners announced

The fifth-annual McGraw Hill Poster Contest was held on April 27 at the†Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at†ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº.


This competition gives ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº students and local high school seniors an opportunity to present their unique ideas and research.

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Adult Education program will hold its annual commencement ceremony for students who received their General Education Development†(GED) diploma during the 2011-2012 school year on Thursday, May 10. The ceremony will be held at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº campus at 7 p.m. Family and friends of graduates are encouraged to attend.

May 8 Reception to honor McCallum



ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº will host a reception for Latrel McCallum on Tuesday, May 8 from 12-1 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts foyer. The event will†honor†McCallum's 14 loyal years of service as a member of the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Board of Trustees.† She retired from the board in April.

Bryan Hughes meet and greet planned for May 3

Eagles sweep Navarro, clinch regular season title

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Eagles moved one step closer to the Junior College World Series Wednesday as they swept defending national champion Navarro to earn the regular season conference title.

A pair of outstanding pitching performances from starters Jordan Marah and Tanner Allgood, coupled with a strong defensive showing, carried the day as the Eagles defeated the visiting Bulldogs 3-1 and 2-0.

With the wins, the Eagles finish the regular season 26-10 in Region XIV Eastern Zone play and 33-14 overall.
