Northeast Texas field center wins SBDC of the Year Award

The North Texas SBDC proudly announces the†Northeast Texas Small Business Development Center (SBDC)†in Mount Pleasant, as the 2017 SBDC of the Year for the North Texas SBDC Network.

The†SBDC of the Year†honor is awarded to the North Texas SBDC Field Center based on stellar program†performance through†client successes and economic development contributing to job creation/retention and revenue growth on behalf of small business.

Eagles Baseball picks up two wins against Paris

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Eagles baseball team opened up conference play with a pair of wins over Paris Junior College last weekend.

Northeast had a great start in the series with a 5-3 win over Paris. Eagles? Nelson Torres opened up the scoring for the team with a home run in the top of the fourth, tying the game 1-1.

Paris took the lead once more in the sixth after collecting another run. But the Eagles responded with two runs of their own in the seventh. With two outs, Jhosmel Rodriguez hit a hard ground ball and reached base on an error, scoring Ryan Dudley.

Honors Northeast scholars win awards for Texas history essays

For the third year in a row, Honors Northeast scholars from ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº have won two of the four lower-division awards for scholarship in Texas History at the annual state-wide Walter Webb Society meeting.† William Fox of Mount Pleasant won second place in the essay competition, winning $300, and Rachel Jordan of Ore City, won fourth place and $75.† The Walter Webb Society is the collegiate auxiliary of the Texas State Historical Association which also met in Houston.

Pineywoods Iris Society gives ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº scholarship

The Pineywoods Iris Society recently held a meeting at the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Agriculture Center at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº. The group presented a check for $500 to the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Foundation in order to provide a scholarship for an ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº agriculture student. Kathy Thompson is pictured presenting the check to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Vice President for Advancement, along with other club members.

Fourth Annual Engineering Roundtable held

The Fourth†Annual Engineering Roundtable at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº was held on Friday, February 17, 2017 in the Whatley Center Foyer on campus.† Since 2014, this event has become an annual opportunity for both students who are currently enrolled in the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº engineering program and students from area high schools who are interested in the field of engineering.

Phi Theta Kappa hosts 1920s Murder Mystery Dinner

Alpha Mu Chi, the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, will host a two-night, 1920s-themed Murder Mystery Dinner event in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts March 20 and 21.

Tickets are $20 each and includes a fun evening of sleuthing and a three-course meal. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. on both nights and will last approximately two and a half hours.

?This is our second year to host the murder mystery dinner fundraiser. Last year it sold out, so we decided to add a second night,? Dr. Melissa Fulgham, Alpha Mu Chi advisor said.
