The Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club recently gave $500 to the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Foundation. The funds will be used to provide a scholarship for an ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ student majoring in art, music or drama. The group has been contributing to scholarships since 1985 when the college first opened. They also presented a $25 honorarium to the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Art Department. The club made the presentation while holding their club meeting on campus in the art lab. Carter BloodCare will be on campus Tuesday, January 31, 2017 conducting a blood drive. Please help save a life by donating blood! The blood drive bus will be located in the parking lot behind the Student Union Building from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dr. Ron Clinton, ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Executive Vice President for Instruction, will perform a solo piano recital on Sunday, Jan. 29 at†2:30 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.†Tickets to the concert are $15 for adults and $5 for children and ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ students with a current ID. Proceeds from the event will benefit scholarships for ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ students.

The concert will feature Beethoven?s Piano Sonata No. 9, Op. 14 No. 1; Chopin?s Ballade No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 52; Ravel?s Sonatine and Brahms? Piano Sonata No. 1 in C Major, Op. 1.

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ is also accepting applications for its next evening academy, which begins March 13. Classes meet Monday-Thursday from 5-10 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Honors Northeast, the honors program at ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ, will premiere an original historical film Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The production, Sam Houston and the Fate of the Texas Cherokee, is the fifth film Honors Northeast has completed in the last five years.

The first week of classes can be a stressful time in the life of a college student. To help alleviate this stress, and to encourage students to meet new people, we have planned a Welcome Back Social for students, faculty and staff.

The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Foundation is now accepting applications for the International Sulphur Transfer Scholarship. This scholarship fund provides five awards of $1,000 each for ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ students transferring to a four-year university.

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The college will resume regular business hours and kick off the first day of the Spring 2017 semester on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Students will report to their Monday-Wednesday classes for the first time on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ will be closed Dec. 19-30 for winter break. Offices will resume regular business hours Monday, Jan. 2. Spring classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 17. Returning students may register for classes online during the break in their account. New students can and online.
