Texas A&M University-Texarkana will host a PLACE lecture (Program for Learning and Community Engagement) on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº campus March 30 at 12:30 p.m. in UHS 221. The lecture "Great War, Great Dilemma: The Treatment of Pacifists and the Lesson of the Power of One" will be conducted by our very own Dr. Melissa Fulgham. Free pizza and drinks will be provided.

Art Department hosts annual Mt. Pleasant Art Society show

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Art Department will host the Mount Pleasant Art Society Annual Membership Show March 25 through April 7 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The competitive show features artwork from a variety of local artists. A reception will be held Saturday, March 25 from 2:00-3:30 p.m., where the winners will be announced. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please call 903-434-8181 to ensure that the gallery is open before you come to visit.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Ag to host plant sale April 1

The annual ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Spring Plant Sale will be hosted April 1 at the Mount Pleasant Super 1 Foods parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until sold out). Various sizes and varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers will be available, plus numerous other vegetables, herbs, shrubs, vines and trees ready to plant in your garden or patio pots. The farm crew will be available to answer your gardening questions and help get your garden started off right!

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº, A&M-Texarkana formalize partnership agreement

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº and Texas A&M University ? Texarkana held a ceremony Thursday morning to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding and Articulation Agreement for the Associate of Science in Business Administration to Bachelor of Business Administration. Dr. Brad Johnson, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº President, and Dr. Emily Cutrer, President of A&M-Texarkana are pictured during the signing. The agreement allows students who complete their associate degree in business at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº to seamlessly transfer into the bachelor?s degree program at A&M-Texarkana.

Eagles Baseball picks up two wins against Paris

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Eagles baseball team opened up conference play with a pair of wins over Paris Junior College last weekend.

Northeast had a great start in the series with a 5-3 win over Paris. Eagles? Nelson Torres opened up the scoring for the team with a home run in the top of the fourth, tying the game 1-1.

Paris took the lead once more in the sixth after collecting another run. But the Eagles responded with two runs of their own in the seventh. With two outs, Jhosmel Rodriguez hit a hard ground ball and reached base on an error, scoring Ryan Dudley.

Honors Northeast scholars win awards for Texas history essays

For the third year in a row, Honors Northeast scholars from ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº have won two of the four lower-division awards for scholarship in Texas History at the annual state-wide Walter Webb Society meeting.† William Fox of Mount Pleasant won second place in the essay competition, winning $300, and Rachel Jordan of Ore City, won fourth place and $75.† The Walter Webb Society is the collegiate auxiliary of the Texas State Historical Association which also met in Houston.
