Eagles split matchup with Grayson County

The Eagles split another double-header Wednesday as they took on Grayson County College in Dennison.

After suffering an 8-0 loss in the opening game of the day, the Eagles bounced back with a 3-2 victory in the second contest.

Christina Martin helped lead ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº to victory in the second game as she was 2-3 at the plate while Katie Holcomb and Hannah Holovach both had a hit and each scored a run in the win.

Eagles split with visiting North Central Lions

The Eagles softball team used a resilient effort to pick up its first win of the season Friday afternoon, bouncing back from a 10-1 loss in first game of a double-header to earn a 4-3 victory over visiting North Central Texas College.

Victory did not come easy, though, as the Eagles had to hold off a late charge from the Lady Lions to pick up the win. ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº led 4-0 heading into the seventh inning only to see the Lady Lions score three runs to cut the deficit to a single run.

This week ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº President Brad Johnson announced the college would begin a search for a new Director of Agriculture. †Dr. Charlie Apter, the present director, will step aside immediately and a national search for his successor has already begun.

?This is not a new direction, but a leadership change intended to bring an intensified pace of development,? Johnson said.

?Enrollment is a factor but only one of several fundamental markers I considered in making this difficult decision.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº honored Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner, faculty advisor to ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Phi Theta Kappa chapter, at the January 2012 Board of Trustees Meeting Tuesday.†Weinbrenner has been chosen to serve as a Phi Theta Kappa 2012 Faculty Scholar. Only 25 instructors were chosen from among nearly 3,000 chapter advisors to receive this honor.
