ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº offers Music Academy for grades K-6

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº will begin the inaugural semester of the newly formed Northeast Texas Music Academy on January 9 for grades K-6. The academy consists of 22 weeks of instruction, which includes private lessons, theory classes, ensembles and special events.

Students may receive instruction in one of the following areas: voice, piano, strings (violin, viola, cello) or guitar. Theory classes meet from 5:00-5:30 p.m. one day each week, with a choice of Monday-Wednesday. Ensembles meet Thursdays from 5-6 p.m.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº held its winter 2011 commencement ceremony at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, Dec. 16. During the ceremony, 102 students were awarded associate degrees and 42 earned certificates of competency in their chosen fields. John Coleman, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Associate Faculty Member in Psychology gave the commencement address. Hastings supports local literacy

Hastings Entertainment recently gave $209.17 to benefit the Titus County Literacy Advisory Committee. These funds were donated by Hastings customers at the local Mount Pleasant store. Glenda Lee recently presented a check to the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Foundation for $3,300. These funds were raised at the annual Tommy Lee Memorial Biker Run at Chickfest. The gift will be used to provide scholarships to Camp County students attending ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº. Bill Price commits $5,000 to the Campaign for the Whatley

Bill Price of Mount Pleasant recently committed $5,000 to benefit the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôºâ€ Campaign for the Whatley. His donation will be used to help renovate the 20-year-old Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The goal for the campaign is to raise $750,000 over the next three years.
