CIS Day planned for Nov. 18th in Mt. Pleasant

The Communities In Schools group is coordinating †?CIS DAY?†to raise funds to support the CIS Believes In Dreams Christmas Project and other CIS activities and services.† Last year with this project, we served over 1,400 students and their siblings for Christmas and the numbers will be even higher this year.

    Texas A&M University-Texarkana at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº and ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº have partnered with students and student leaders on campus to collect plastic bags to be donated to Titus County Cares.

    Judy Lee, chairman of the Titus County Cares Board of Directors, said the organization is in tremendous need of bags to meet the demand of the organization?s Food†Pantry†and weekend food program for children in the area.

    ?We use around 5,500 plastic bags a week between Food4kids and the Food Pantry.† Around 200 families a week are served through the

    Honors group presents to Webb Society

    Five ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº honors freshman recently presented the trailer of their new film on Mary Kay at the annual fall meeting of the Walter Prescott Webb Historical Society. The Webb Society is the collegiate auxiliary of the Texas State Historical Association.

    Warren Wu, Rhylie Anderson, Jordan Whelchel, Karsen Nelson, and Matthew Chambers (pictured from left) have all taken major roles in the production of the film, due for a premiere this February.

    ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº to host college fair Nov. 13

    The Annual Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO) College Fair, sponsored by ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº, is set for Monday, Nov.†13†in the Student Union Building at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº.

    Colleges and universities will have representatives on hand from†1-3 p.m. to provide admissions and financial aid information to students and their parents. Anyone interested in learning more about college - from junior high to current college students and their families - are invited to attend.

    Student Success will be hosting the Study Skills & Memory Improvement Workshop on November 7th†from 12:25 ? 1:25 in H101 (The Community Room). Our very own John Russo will be presenting helpful tips and techniques that our students can utilize throughout the semester.

    Softball seeks plastic bag donations

    For the past five years our softball team has been a part of Titus County cares Food4kids program, helping to make sure children are eating over the weekend and giving them a better opportunity to excel in life.†Every Tuesday evening we sack †1,800 bags (plastic shopping bags) of food for children in the county and then organize to be delivered every Friday to the schools for those students to have a meal on the weekends. This is a program that we are passionate about as a team and program over the years.

    We need your help! This year we are running low on plastic bags.

    ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Golf Classic ends in a tie

    The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Golf Classic raised more than $7,000 for the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Foundation this year.† The tournament, held at the Daingerfield Country Club, consisted of eight six-person teams.† There was a two-way tie for first place between the Daingerfield Country Club Team and the team from Guaranty Bank and Trust. The tie breaker was settled on a score card play-off that was won by Daingerfield Country Club.
