Whatley Employee Enhancement Fund winners announced

Twelve ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº employees received a total of $15,473.86 in Whatley Employee Enhancement Grants for 2018. The Whatley Employee Enhancement Fund was established by James & Elizabeth Whatley specifically for ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº employees to fund special projects and enhance educational opportunities that might fall outside the regular budget.

Filing for Place Three, Place Four and Place Seven on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Board of Trustees will begin on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, and continues through 5 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018. Filing applications are available from elections clerk Maria Razo in the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Executive Offices from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.† The deadline for filing an application will be extended to 5:00 p.m.

Adult Education accepting new GED, ESL students

The Adult Education Department at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº is accepting new†and returning†students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs†should call to make an appointment for registration†and/or testing.†While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at†105†N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant.

Representative Gary VanDeaver visits Communities In Schools

Tuesday night Communities In Schools (CIS) of Northeast Texas hosted Texas State Representative Dr. Gary VanDeaver. He toured the program?s Believes In Dreams Angel Store in Mount Vernon and met with several CIS volunteers and community†members. He took a special interest in how CIS helps area at-risk high school seniors figure out an after-graduation plan through the CAPPED program.
