��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ

The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Fire Academy is now recruiting for its 20th Academy. The Academy started in 2002 and has trained numerous individuals in fire service. The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Fire Academy prepares trainees for a career as a firefighter. The academy is an authorized training facility for structural firefighting under Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP - FDID #107). Trainees who successfully complete the academy will be eligible for the certification exam given by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.

The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Board of Trustees met for its regular October meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 26. 

This week the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ EMS Program had the honor of presenting updated Stop the Bleed kits to Harts Bluff ISD. The kits were donated by the Northeast Texas Regional Advisory Council in partnership with ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ. The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts will present John Mueller’s Winter Dance Party on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Winter Dance Party is the official live and authentic re-creation of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper's final tour and the only show endorsed by the Holly, Valens and Richardson estates. The performance is sponsored by Texas Heritage National Bank.

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ hosted the third National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region Rodeo October 15-16. The Rodeo was held at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Priefert Arena in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Two students from ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ recently received the Walter B Cooper Scholarship at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Leadership Conference held virtually on October 15-17th.  The Walter B Cooper Scholarship recognizes outstanding students in the state of Texas who are “well-rounded” in the four Hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship.

The honors program at ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ continually strives to provide students with networking and career opportunities.  As a result, Presidential Scholar, Israel Perez, was given the opportunity to meet with Architect Derrik Godwin and his team at Godwin Design Architects located in Hughes Springs on October 13, 2021.  

The Texas Region of Phi Theta Kappa held its annual Texas Leadership Conference as a virtual event October 15-17th. District III Vice-President, Cade Bennett of ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ and fellow members of the Texas Regional leadership team planned and coordinated the event with an art-inspired theme, featuring guest speakers, virtual fellowship events, seminar group discussions, and other bonding activities.

Alpha Mu Chi, ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ's Phi Theta Kappa chapter, placed pink ribbons around campus in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month earlier this week. Their goal was to help raise awareness of breast cancer on campus and to support those who have been affected by the disease.
