The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ 2021 Work4College Program officially kicked off last week as students and their families gathered for two orientation events. More than 80 students have been selected to participate in the program this summer. Around 30 of the students are returning from last summer.

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently announced it received $40,000 from the Greater Texas Foundation to support the Work4College Program. Dr. Ron Clinton (right), ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ President, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Executive Vice President for Advancement, are pictured receiving the gift on behalf of the college. The 2021 Work4College program will kick off June 7 with more than 80 student participating.

Representatives from the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Cosmetology Program recently visited local non-profit, Rhute Haven, to provide haircuts for homeless individuals. Pictured (from left) is instructor Necah Posey and students Elizabeth Isbell, Crystal Carpenter and Alejandro “Dro” Barcenas.

Despite the fact that the event was held the day after spring commencement, the new cosmetology graduates were happy to lend their skills for a good cause. While the turnout wasn’t as high as they hoped, students were able to help one client that day.

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ will be closed on Monday, May 31 in observation of Memorial Day. Offices will resume regular hours on Tuesday, Jun 1.

The Orchard Ensemble featuring pianist Evan Mitchell, violinist Mark Miller and violist Ute Miller will perform at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ on Sunday, June 13 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for age 17 and under. The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Adult Education Program honored five deserving General Equivalency Diploma (GED) students during its recent GED Graduation ceremony by inducting them into the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS). Those inducted were: (from left): Conner Mitleff of Mt. Pleasant, Chloe McGee of Talco, Theresa Kitchens of Mount Pleasant, Silvia Villa Garcia of Winfield and Tia Dailey of Hughes Springs.

Conner Mitleff of Mount Pleasant was recently presented with the J. Travis Jackson GED Scholarship during the 2021 GED graduation ceremony hosted by the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Adult Education Program. This $500 award is given by the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club in memory of Jackson, who was a long time adult educator in Titus County.
