The connection of the auto-racer/developer Carroll Shelby to the preeminent American muscle cars of the pre-regulation era, before 1970, makes him iconic still in American automotive history.  The most expensive American car ever sold in an auction was a Shelby Cobra, which netted 14 million dollars, in 2016.  In 2019, the Academy-Award-winning sports drama film, Ford v Ferrari, featured star actor, Matt Damon, playing the role of Shelby.

The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Career and Transfer Center will host two special events next week. On Wednesday, July 28 a recruiter from UT Tyler will be in the Career and Transfer Center (BT ?) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ students who are interested in transferring to UT Tyler are encouraged to stop by and apply. The university is waiving the application fee for those who apply during the event.

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ’s Continuing Education and Corporate Training department is pleased to announce our first Senior Adult conference for seniors 55 and up.  The conference will be held on August 20^th, 2021 in the Whatley Center on the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ campus, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.     

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ is pleased to announce that Russell VanBibber & Gary Short from the EMS program have been nominated for this week’s Summer Shout Out. VanBibber and Short are a great example of employees who go above and beyond for their students, colleagues and community.

More than 70 students from the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Work4College Program participated in Mad City reality simulation fair this Wednesday. The event, hosted by , is an exciting, interactive exercise to help students learn more about managing their personal finances. 

The “charm of fame is so great” noted Blaise Pascal, “that we like every article to which it is attached.” Former President George W. Bush (2001-2008) recently published an artistic and biographical compendium that the friends of Carlos Mendez will no doubt treasure. The former Texas Governor and 43rd President painted portraits of forty-three living immigrant contributors to American life.  The group includes Henry Kissinger, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dirk Nowitski, and the former alumnus of Honors Northeast, Carlos Mendez. 

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ is pleased to announce that Dr. Jonathan McCullough (Executive Vice President For Advancement), and his development team, has been nominated for this week’s Summer Shout Out. Dr. McCullough and his staff raise funds for the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Foundation and award scholarships and other assistance to students in need (along with many other duties).

Did you know that ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ now has a virtual tour? Prospective students and community members can get a 360^o look at the campus without leaving home. In addition to a guided tour, there are separate virtual experiences for the Carroll Shelby Automotive Program, Community Room (UHS), Cosmetology Program, Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Ag Center, Fitness Center, Funeral Services Program, Health Science Simulation Lab and Whatley Center. We plan to add more virtual tours in the near future.
