Students in the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Cosmetology Program recently enjoyed a bit of friendly competition with a manikin hair and makeup contest. After a lesson on how to professionally apply makeup, students were assigned the task of completing a full makeover on a teaching manikin. The goal was to include a full face of makeup and a formal updo hairstyle. While all of the manikins looked amazing, popular vote chose the following as the winners:

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ would like to recognize all the Area Athletic Trainers who go above and beyond to take care of the athletes they serve. March is designated at National Athletic Training Month and this year the slogan is “From Head to Toe”. From Concussions and head lacerations to muscle strains and broken bones all the way to sprained toes, Athletic Trainers are here to care for our athletes.

Texas A&M Texarkana at ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ has two upcoming transfer events for ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ students. The first is a Preview Day on Friday, March 8. It will be held at the Patterson Student Center on the A&M-Texarkana campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prospective students will learn more about topics like:

The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Alumni Association is officially accepting applications! The membership fee is only $5 and you can be among the founding members. Not only will it help you stay in the know about what’s going on at ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ, you can also network with others and get involved.

The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ CARE Center recently learned that it received a $3,000 grant from Swipe Out Hunger – the leading national nonprofit working to end college student food insecurity. ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ was one of 102 colleges that received more than $420,000 in grants for their campuses. The ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ funds will be used to purchase a new computer and software to help manage food pantry inventory. 

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Nursing students, including LVN and RN levels 2 and 4, shared fellowship with the Titus Regional Medical Center staff through educating the community about heart health issues. They were led by Tim Elmore and Beverly Price. TRMC hosted its annual React Quicker, Save Your Ticker heart health fair on Saturday, February 17, offering free and low-cost testing, education at community-led booths, and guests received free health screenings and hands only CPR training. 

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ first year Head Coach, Haley Colwell picked up her first win as a Collegiate coach. Colwell and the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Eagles Softball team went to North Central Texas Community College on Wednesday, February 21 and picked up the win 3-0 over NCTC.

Dr. Matthew Lampert, ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Professor of Philosophy, recently participated in The Teaching Hub at the 2024 Central Division Meeting of the American Philosophical Association in New Orleans. Lampert was invited to serve as a panelist in a discussions session called “Teaching Philosophy at Community Colleges.” He is pictured with other panelists in the session (from left): Guy Crain, Rose State College, Jason Flato, Georgia State University – Perimeter College, Lampert, and Rebeka Ferreira, Green River College.
