Biology students conduct parasite research over spring break

Dr. Chris McAllister (ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Biology) and two ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº independent research students, George Burrows and Michael Rodriguez spent spring break doing parasitology research on fishes of northeastern Arkansas. They were fortunate to have colleagues (see group photo) along to help teach different techniques and the students learned a great deal from their tutelage.

Eagle softball heads to conference play

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Softball is preparing to start conference games on Saturday, March 16th, weather dependent. ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº finished up the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday, March 12th with a split vs Midland College. 

After falling 4-9 in game one, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº got hot and scored in almost every inning to pick up the win in game 2, 11-8. The win was a team effort with multiple players hitting well and the pitching staff combining for a multi pitcher performance to get the win.

Mount Pleasant Art Society show on display in Whatley

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Art Department will host the Mount Pleasant Art Society Annual Membership Show March 9th-29th in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The competitive show features artwork from a variety of local artists. A reception will be held Saturday, March 9th from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center Foyer.

Psi Beta to host Suicide Prevention 5K event

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº chapter of Psi Beta will host its annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk, Run, or Crawl 5K event on Saturday, April 13th on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº campus. The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with speaker Amy Barfield, Ph.D. and the 5K starts at 10:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $25 each for pre-registration or $30 on the day of the event. T-shirts will be provided to those who pre-register and pay by March 20. Click below for the registration form:

Celtic Angels Ireland to perform March 19th at the Whatley

Get ready to be swept away to another land with a mesmerizing production of Celtic Angels Ireland at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº. The performance is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for children and ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº students with a current ID.
