The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Foundation is pleased to announce that seven ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ employees have been awarded funds through the 2022 Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant. The Foundation received 13 outstanding applications. A total of $12,260 was awarded through the grant.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ held its annual Employee Christmas Party and Service Awards/Retirement Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 8th. In addition to wishing Elayne Peters, Director of the Testing Center, well in her retirement, the college also honored those who reached service milestones.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ students and co-founders of the TAFE Chapter, Monserrat Rivero and Ruby Ferretiz, were surprised by Professor Jim Ward with a shopping spree to collect supplies for their TAFE community service project. The students were given 30 minutes to shop for $250 worth of donations for the Rainbow Room at the local Department of Family and Protective Service Office to support their project they had presented to faculty at the most recent faculty meeting.

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Foundation recently received a $12,000 donation from the United States Tennis Association. Dr. Ron Clinton (left), ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ President, Jimmy Smith, Coordinator of Continuing Education and Corporate Training, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, Executive Vice President for Advancement, are pictured receiving the check. The gift will be used to upgrade ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ’s tennis courts and provide scholarships for local youth to participate in the 2023 Kids Discovery College.
The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Foundation recently received a $42,039.06 donation from the estate of Earl Christian Williamson. Nita May (left), Director of Development, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, Executive Vice President for Advancement, are pictured receiving the check. Williamson was a computer science faculty member at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ from 1988 to 1998.
The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Continuing Education Department is now accepting applications for the 2023 Firefighter Academy. Classes begin January 17th, 2023 and will be held at the Mount Pleasant Central Fire Station. The program meets on evenings during the week and on alternating Saturdays.
Be on the lookout for members of the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Eagles Baseball and Softball teams if you happen to be out shopping in Mount Pleasant today (Friday, Dec. 2nd). Players will be ringing bells for the Salvation Army from 9 a.m. until the evening at Wal Mart, Super One and Mount Pleasant Brookshire's. We are proud of our student athletes for their commitment to serving the community!
ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ will host its December 2022 Commencement Ceremony on Friday, Dec. 9th at 7 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Seating is limited, so only guests who have tickets will be admitted into the auditorium. Graduation will be streamed live on and for those who are unable to attend in person.
