Perla Guzman of Mount Pleasant has become the 2023-24 Texas Heritage National Bank (THNB) Scholar of ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº. The $3,000 scholarship provided by the bank goes this year to the top-rated incoming Presidential Scholar of the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Honors Program.   Guzman will inherit this prestigious designation from other previous vanguard students of ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº.

Swann and Wilhite with spouses

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº celebrated the retirement of two beloved faculty members on Thursday, Aug. 24th. Dr. Paula Wilhite (pictured right with her husband), Professor of Mathematics, and Mr. Jim Swann (pictured left with his wife), Professor of Spanish, will be greatly missed. Wilhite has taught at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº since the college opened in 1985. Swann came shortly after her in 1988.

In her first year at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº, Neida Perez became a standout among standouts. As a top-ranked Presidential Scholar, she has earned this fall one of the two most lucrative foundation scholarships granted through the college’s honors program.
