Carroll Shelby Foundation gives $25,000 to ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº automotive program

The Carroll Shelby Foundation recently gave $25,000 to support scholarships for students enrolled in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº. Dr. Jonathan McCullough (left), ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Executive Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the gift from Aaron Shelby, grandson of Carroll Shelby and Co-President of The Carroll Shelby Foundation. Carroll Shelby began supporting the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº automotive program in 2007. Since his death, the Carroll Shelby Foundation has carried on his legacy through annual contributions.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº receives $60,000 grant from Pioneer Foundation

Fred Markham, Executive Director of the Texas Pioneer Foundation, recently presented the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Foundation with $60,000 to support the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Work Scholarship Program. The gift came in two separate checks, one for $50,000 to be used as a matching gift for scholarships, and the other for $10,000 to be used as program support. ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº recently received a check for $53,000 in scholarships from the U.S. Department of Education. Nita May (left), ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Director of Development, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Executive Vice President for Advancement are pictured receiving the gift. This grant was awarded as matching funds for gifts received for the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Work Scholarship Program. Around 100 donors have given more than $85,000 this year to support the innovative program that allows students to work in the summer to prepay for their college education.

Scott Wesson recently gave $10,000 to create the Jerry Wesson Honors Scholarship at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº. †The scholarship is in the honor of Scott?s father, Dr. Jerry Wesson, for his legacy in higher education. When the college opened, he was an original member of the college?s administrative staff as the first Dean of Student Services. † Later, he served as Vice President of Student Services for many years. The Sharon Bliss Memorial scholarship is in memory of Thomas? mother,†who had a long career as a respiratory therapist.†This scholarship†benefits a student studying health sciences at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº. The Bradyn Dawn Loy Memorial Scholarship†is†in memory of the Mount Vernon High School student and friend of the Bliss family.

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Foundation recently received a $10,000 donation from the Gloria Norwood estate. The funds established the Bradley Syd Norwood Memorial Scholarship, which will provide scholarships to students in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program. Gloria, who was a resident of Naples, planned the gift in her will. Her late son, Bradley, attended the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Automotive Program in the early 1990s. The Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club recently gave $500 to support the Work Scholarship Program at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº. The gift, which is in addition to their annual scholarship, will be matched by two grants for a total impact of $1,500.
