Psi Beta inducts new members
ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ recently inducted new members into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for students at two-year colleges.†Inductees included (from left): Elyse Coleman of Gilmer, Kaitlyn Klepfer of Mount Pleasant, and Trinity Moseley of Cumby.†Psi Beta chapters sponsor programs, activities, and participation in community service projects along with opportunities to present research papers at regional meetings, attend national meetings, and compete for national awards.
ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ speech professor honored
†††Danny Moss, Professor of Speech at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ, was recently named Community College Educator of the Year by the Texas Speech Communication Association (TSCA). He received the award during the group's annual conference in Lubbock, Texas Oct. 3.
†††Moss has taught speech for 26 years, including 16 years at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ. He was nominated by fellow speech educators around the state to receive the honor.

Creative Writing 101 continuing education course offered

Lou Antonelli?s short fiction has been published in the U.S., Canada, England, Portugal, India and Australia, and gathered up in three separate collections.

Berlin natives visit with ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ German class
Students in ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ's new German 1311 class recently had visitors from†Berlin, Germany.†Uwe and Henny Goettert are currently living in Toronto while Henny completes her degree in molecular genetics. †They were visiting in the Pittsburg area with Henny?s former host family from 2000-2001, when she was a foreign exchange student to the US.
Henny was born in East Berlin when the Berlin Wall was still standing. She was four years old when it fell in 1989.

Free GED, ESL classes offered
The Adult Education Department at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ (ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ) will offer free General Education Development (GED) classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at various locations throughout the area this fall. All students must enroll in an orientation session before beginning classes.
Seats going fast for Christmas Plano trip
The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Hanson Sewell Center is planning a day trip to Plano on Saturday, December 13. The day will begin when guests board a chartered coach in Pittsburg. The trip will include a short shopping excursion to Plano's Willow Bend Shopping Mall before heading to Prestonwood Baptist Church.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ accepting applications for Evening Police Academy
The Northeast Police Academy at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ is now accepting applications for its next evening†police academy, which begins on†Monday, Oct. 27.
The evening academy†meets from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every first and third Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.†The program will end in late May 2015.†This program is designed for working adults who may not have time to complete the daytime academy.
