Expertise has its own rewards, and in the case of history essays at ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ, the reward might be something greater than an ‘A’.  For the fifth year in a row, history at ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ will feature the Bonnie Spencer Awards for the best three research papers in non-honors classes.  This year, the awards will be doubled to $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and to $25 for third place.

��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ associate professor Mandy Smith was recently named the 2019 Charles “Chuck” Choate Memorial Adviser of the Year by the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA). This is the top state award for college and university journalism advisers and is designated for those who “go the extra mile in teaching and advising.”

East Texas Giving Day (ETGD) is up and running and this is our 6^th year to participate in this regional online giving/fundraising event. Why is this so important to ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ and why would YOU want to thoughtfully consider giving?  Your gift to ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ will be matched 2 to 1.  That’s right, ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ will receive an extra $2 from matching grants for every $1 you give, so WE ALL have the power to make a really big difference.  Here are some details:

Frankie and Henrietta King and Dr. Ronald and Carolyn Blum recently gave $1,000 to the ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Foundation in memory of Buck and Nella Mae King. The Kings are pictured presenting the check to Dr. Jonathan McCullough (right), ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Executive Vice President for Advancement.

Students interested in participating in the 2020 ��ɫ����������ƵӰԺ Work4College Program should plan to turn in their completed applications no later than April 15. It is available online at www.work4college.com. 

The Work4College Program is a unique experience that allows participants (from high school juniors to adults) to work in meaningful jobs on campus throughout the summer. In addition to getting paid, students also EARN their college in advance by accruing scholarship money in their account.
