Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery give $10,500 for ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Honors scholarships

Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery recently presented the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Foundation with a check for $10,500. The gift provided $10,000 to establish the Russell-Mowery Perpetual Honors Scholarship and $500 for current honors scholarships. The Mowerys are pictured presenting the gift to Dr.

Career and Training Expo planned for April 23

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº, in partnership with the Mount Pleasant Economic Development Corporation (MPEDC), will host a Career and Training Expo on Friday, April 23. The event will be held at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôºâ€™s Industrial Technology Training Center (ITTC) in Mount Pleasant (westbound I-30 frontage road east of Lowes) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

The pandemic had a way of delaying initiatives. But the 2020 issue of Touchstone, one of the most venerable undergraduate journals in the United States, finally has appeared in April, 2021. Published by the Texas State Historical Association, Touchstone has appeared continuously since 1982 in real form, and since the 1990s on high-quality cotton-stock paper, designed to last.

Rodeo Team hosts annual Kids Rodeo

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Rodeo team put on a Rodeo for Titus County Elementary school children on Tuesday, April 6th. The student athletes from the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Rodeo team held the event at the Mount Pleasant Priefert Arena located at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association complex on Greenhill Road.

Softball splits series with Paris Junior College

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº started the second round of conference on Saturday, April 3 with a two-game series with Paris Junior College. After PJC defeated the Eagles in game one 19-1, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº bounced back for a 15-7 win in game two.

Student Art Show returns

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Art Department will hold its annual student art show Thursday, April 7 through Tuesday, May 4 in the foyer gallery of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The exhibit will feature student work in photography, painting, ceramics, digital artwork, drawing and design. An artist reception will be held Wednesday, April 21 in the Whatley Center foyer at 12:30 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please call 903-434-8181 to ensure the gallery is open before visiting.

Theater classes are back

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº is pleased to announce that theater classes will be offered again starting this fall! Courses on the schedule include: Theater Appreciation (DRAM-1310), Stagecraft I (DRAM-1330) and Acting I (DRAM-1351). Five $500 scholarships are available for students enrolled in theater classes.
