Time is running out to apply for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº! Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year are due on Friday, March 31st. ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº offers a two-year Associate Degree of Applied Science and upon graduation, students will be eligible to sit for the PTA licensure exam administered by Texas Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners.

Students who will graduate high school in 2023 are invited to join the Summer Success Program at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº!  This is a great opportunity for new grads to get a jump start on college and make new friends! Eligible students who enroll in (and pay for) six hours during the first summer session will be awarded a scholarship to live on campus for free during that time.

Jordan Chapin

Jordan Chapin, a student at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº, is one of 20 college students in the nation to be named to the prestigious All-USA Academic Team and will receive a $5,000 scholarship.  More than 2,400 students were nominated for this award. Chapin serves as the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Regional President, in addition to helping run the Alpha Mu Chi chapter on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº campus.

Harley Jo Chaffin was selected as the Longview Orthopaedic Star Foundation student of the week for March 5th-11th. Harley Jo competes for the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Rodeo team. A valued member of the team, Chaffin, from Ivanhoe, Texas competes in Goat tying, Ladies Breakaway and Team Roping for the Eagles.

Archival documents on Annie McClean Moores who in 1893 becomes Texas’ first female bank president, heading up the First National Bank in Mount Pleasant, TX.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº hosted the Southern Arkansas Community College Stars in softball action on March 4, 2023 and came away with two run rule victories. Game won saw the Eagles take down the Stars 10-2 and game two ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº also put up ten runs in an 10-1 win over Southern Arkansas CC.

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Board of Trustees met for its regular February meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28th at 5:30 p.m. Dr. Ron Clinton, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº President, reported that the bill for proposed changes to the community college funding model was released this week. It is , and more information will be made clear in weeks to come as the state legislature moves forward with its work.

Did you know that ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº currently has 15 WorKampers from all over the country who live on campus and help out with important tasks that impact the entire college? ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôºâ€™s unique WorKamping Program allows full-time RVers an opportunity to exchange work for rent at a small RV park located on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº campus (near the rodeo arena). Retirees and disabled workers can share their considerable experience and talents to help with projects like landscaping, painting, farming, electrical, plumbing, and computer support.
