Every semester full-time and associate faculty in ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôºâ€™s Division of Math, Physics and Engineering can select an outstanding student, who is exceptional in some way. For the Spring 2023 semester, Dr. Doug Richey nominated Jenna Renae Lukehart from Mount Pleasant as outstanding in College Algebra (Fall 2022) and Statistics (Spring 2023).

On 5 May, for the fifteenth time, community judges and ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº students converged on the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº for an annual McGraw-Hill Poster Contest.  The scholarly competition was enabled again by generous grants, from Beverly Kelley of Mount Vernon, and the McGraw-Hill Education Corporation—through the special work of Bill Welsh, and Casey Slaght who work in the corporate office in Dubuque, Iowa.

Madison Speight has been selected as the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Psi Beta National Junior Honor Society chapter’s scholarship winner for 2022/23 academic year. The $500 scholarship is to help defray expenses of Psi Beta members who are transferring to a 4 -year school.

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº will host two spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 13th in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Seating is limited, so only guests who have tickets will be admitted into the auditorium. Both events will be streamed live on  and  for those who are unable to attend in person.

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta recently inducted new members at an afternoon ceremony on campus. Sigma Kappa Delta is an English honor society with more than 400 chapters across the country. In order to qualify for an invitation for Sigma Kappa Delta, students must maintain a high GPA and achieve excellent grades in their English courses. The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº chapter was recently revived after a several year hiatus under the leadership of Jennifer Sparks, Interim English Faculty.
