Apply now for the International Sulphur Transfer Scholarship

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº students who will graduate in May 2025 and plan to transfer to a four-year university this fall are encouraged to apply for the International Sulphur Transfer Scholarship. Seven recipients will receive $1,500 each. This scholarship is designated for eligible students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and are completing their ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº studies this spring.

Second annual Homestead Fair is this Saturday

Farmers, gardeners, and homesteading enthusiasts will gather at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº (ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº) on Saturday, March 29, 2025, for the 2nd Annual Homestead Fair. The event, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Ag Complex, aims to connect local producers and individuals interested in sustainable agriculture and self-sufficiency.

Student Development hosting Sock Drive throughout March

As we celebrate Mardi Gras, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôºâ€™s (ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº) Office of Student Development is embracing the spirit of giving with a Mardi Gras Sock Drive, running March 1-31.

Socks are among the most needed but least donated items in shelters and nursing homes. To help, ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº aims to collect new, packaged socks for those in need across East Texas. Donations can be dropped off at SUB 101 throughout March.

The Active Minds chapter at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº (ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº) is hosting a Fundraiser Night on March 10 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Herschel’s Restaurant in Mount Pleasant. This event aims to raise awareness and support for mental health initiatives within the community.

Vanessajane Bayna named Coca-Cola Academic Team Bronze Scholar

Vanessajane Bayna, a Presidential Honors Scholar at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº has been named a 2025 Coca-Cola Academic Team Bronze Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. 

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver, and 50 Bronze Scholars with nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Each scholar also receives a commemorative medallion.

M. J. Hayes receives Phi Theta Kappa Friend of Texas Award

Local author and craftsman M. J. Hayes has received the Phi Theta Kappa Friend of Texas Award. Each year, the Texas Region of Phi Theta Kappa recognizes individuals who are not members or advisors, but go above and beyond—demonstrating exemplary support for a Phi Theta Kappa chapter. ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôºâ€™s chapter, Alpha Mu Chi, nominated Hayes for his assistance with the chapter’s 2023 and 2024 Honors in Action projects.
