Matthew Jordan elected to GPHC Executive Council

The annual October vote of the members of the Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC), an association of 80 honors colleges and programs, recently confirmed鈥燤atthew Jordan,鈥燼 Presidential Scholar at 乱色无码人妻视频影院, as the 2013-2014 Student Representative of its Executive Council.

Jordan, the 2012 Salutatorian of Pittsburg High School, will become the highest ranking student in an organization that represents thousands of honors students, including those at large and prestigious universities.

Cypress Bank donates laptop to 乱色无码人妻视频影院 Honors

For the sixth year in a row, Cypress Bank has funded the purchase of a laptop for the use of 乱色无码人妻视频影院 Honors students.鈥 This year?s recipient, Scot Pitzer (center), was a U.I.L. science, biology, and math standout who placed in the state U.I.L. finals in science. 鈥燞e graduated from Paul Pewitt High School and hopes to become a pharmacist. Noah Griffin receives Caldwell Award for Texas History essay

At the recent Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) conference in Fort Worth, 乱色无码人妻视频影院 honors student Noah Griffin won first place in the Caldwell Award competition for the best essay in Texas History.鈥 He received a $400 award for the honor, topping all peers in the college/university, freshman/sophomore level.鈥 Steve Cure, the Director for Educational Services of the TSHA, remarked that there was an especially crowded field of entries this year.

Griffin is the son of Joy and Dr. Stephen Griffin from Pittsburg, Texas.

Northeast Texas Poetry Contest winners announced

鈥 鈥 The 乱色无码人妻视频影院 Honors students got a head start on their semester last week as they traveled to Jefferson to film their second feature-length movie.


鈥 鈥 The students are currently in the process of producing a 38-scene film on the life of Morris Sheppard, a native of Morris County.鈥燬heppard authored the 18th amendment and is known as the father of prohibition.


鈥 鈥 The year 2013 will mark the 100th anniversary of Sheppard's drive for the prohibition amendment in Congress.

The 乱色无码人妻视频影院 Honors Program recently released the first feature-length movie ever directed and produced by 乱色无码人妻视频影院 students. The film, "Fredonia: A Tale of East Texas," takes a historic look at the most violent and anarchic period in the history of Northeast Texas.

The film was directed by Presidential Scholar Isaac Griffin, and produced by Presidential Scholar, Whitney McIntosh. The Walter Prescott Webb Society of 乱色无码人妻视频影院 Honors supported the production.
