Pittsburg Hanson-Sewell Center offers variety of classes for fall

Want to save gas while working toward your college education?† The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg will offer a variety of courses during the fall 2012 semester.†â¶Ä Some classes are offered in a 16-week†â¶Ä semester format; ohers in a hybrid format , running either eight or five weeks.†

† † † † The event was hosted by ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº in conjunction with Team Shelby Texas. The evening began with car lovers gathering on the north side of Mount Pleasant for a memorial run.

Representatives from ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº and Texas A&M University-Texarkana recently met at the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº campus to sign a Reciprocal Articulation Agreement that will assure continued local access by ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº students to Texas A&M-Texarkana degrees.

East Texans will have the opportunity to join other Shelby fans nationwide in saying goodbye to one of their own next week as the Team Shelby Club will host a memorial celebration for automotive legend Carroll Shelby at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº.

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Board of Trustees elected new officers and swore in three board members at the regular May meeting Tuesday night.




Dr. Dan McCauley and Sid Greer were sworn in for new six-year terms by Titus County Judge Brian Lee. Both terms expired in 2012, but were renewed without holding an election as both incumbents were unopposed.†

Tuesday evening, the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº (ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº) Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Bill Ratliff, former Lieutenant Governor of Texas, to the board of trustees.

Upward Bound gets funded for next five years

The Upward Bound program at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº recently received notification from the United States Department of Education that it will be funded for the next five years.

Galveston beats Blinn in 13 innings

The Galveston College Whitecaps managed to remain undefeated in the Region XIV Baseball tournament as they defeated Blinn College 2-1 in 13 late-night innings. This was the fourth game of the tourney to require extra innings. The game lasted around four hours and finally wrapped up around 2:30 a.m.

Galveston will move on to face San Jacinto on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a fight to remain undefeated in the tournament. Blinn will face Alvin College at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Blinn got on the board first thing, scoring one in the top of the first.
