Living From The Ground Up sustainable ag seminar scheduled for Nov. 1

ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº will host its third annual Living from the Ground Up (LFGU) sustainable agriculture seminar on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Agriculture Complex. Sustainable agriculture specialist, Daniel Salatin of Polyface Farms in Virginia, will be the keynote speaker.†

?Living From The Ground Up is a great chance for folks who are passionate about sustainable agriculture to get together and learn from one another.

Water outages force ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº to address aging infrastructure

The maintenance staff at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº has been busy this semester as a series of water system breakdowns plague the college. Since mid-August, the main campus has been forced to go without water five times due to leaks in its aging water system. Outages have varied from a few hours to more than half a day.

On the morning of Fall Inservice (the one day when all college faculty/staff gather to prepare for the new school year) a major water system break took out the entire campus, leaving the college without running water, working restrooms, and cafeteria services.

Culinary Arts to host final Buffet Night on Oct. 17

The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Culinary Arts Program will host its final special Buffet Night of the season on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº Culinary Institute (?Our Place?) in historic downtown Pittsburg.


The dinner is open to the public and will be held†from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Seating is restaurant-style and to-go orders will be available by calling ahead to†903-434-8333†The cost is $10 per person.

The Annual College Night, sponsored by ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº, is†set for Wednesday, Oct. 30 in the Student Union Building at ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº.




Colleges and universities will have representatives on hand from 6:30-8:00 p.m. to provide admissions and financial aid information to high school†students and their parents. All students from ninth to twelfth grade and†ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº students are invited to attend.

Clayton is a junior at Mount Pleasant High School who plans to attend the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº culinary program after graduation. It's time to put on your best Halloween costume, dust off your trick-or-treat basket and head out to ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº for the†26th†annual Scare Affair.

The event is from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.†19th†on the plaza of the main ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓÆµÓ°Ôº campus (located on FM 1735 near Chapel Hill ISD). There will be free candy for all trick-or-treaters, low-cost games for all ages, a costume contest with cash prizes and much more! A haunted house will be open until 10:30 p.m.
