The ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Softball program is pleased to introduce Coach Sarah Polanco as its new assistant coach.

Polanco enters her first season under third-year Head Coach Haley Colwell, bringing a strong blend of playing experience, coaching expertise, and academic excellence to the program. A standout student-athlete at Hardin-Simmons University from 2019–2022, Polanco appeared in 144 games with 134 starts, earning ASC Third Team honors and Academic All-Conference recognition. She closed her collegiate career with a .325 batting average, 140 putouts, and a .960 fielding percentage.

Following her playing days, Polanco returned home to El Paso to launch her coaching career as a volunteer assistant for both varsity and junior varsity softball at her alma mater, Montwood High School. Her passion for player development quickly propelled her into the collegiate coaching ranks.

From 2023–2025, she served as a graduate assistant at Western New Mexico University, where she worked closely with outfielders and lefty slappers. During her tenure, the Mustangs posted their best season record since 2016, with multiple players earning Conference accolades including All-Freshman Team, Second Team, and Freshman of the Week honors.

Polanco earned her Master’s in Business Administration from Western New Mexico University in 2025, building on her Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science with a concentration in Human Services Administration from Hardin-Simmons University in 2022. Her combination of on-field success, academic achievement, and dedication to athlete development makes her a valuable addition to Coach Colwell’s staff.
