Nursing program receives more than $1 million in grant funding

These competitive grants will help ensure long-term program stability, support innovative curriculum development, enhance student success, and provide state-of-the-art training opportunities for future healthcare professionals.

The awards include $244,867.95 from the 2024-2028 Nursing Shortage Reduction Program to fund the full accreditation process for both the Vocational Nursing and RN Programs. Accreditation provides long-term stability and recognition for these programs.

The Nursing Innovation Grant Program awarded $416,604.96 to support the development of stackable credentials by integrating Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) certifications into the curriculum. The 2025-2027 Nursing Shortage Reduction Program awarded $226,398.89. This grant funds NCLEX Prep Hurst Review for RN students at no cost, tuition assistance for faculty pursuing advanced degrees, professional development opportunities, and a Faculty/Student Success Coordinator position.

The Texas Workforce Commission awarded $149,999.99 through its Building Capacity in Healthcare Fields Grant. This funding will expand program resources with new classroom supplies and equipment for hands-on learning.
