ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ is asking area residents and businesses to join them in celebration of GenTX Day on Friday, May 2. To participate, all Texans are encouraged to wear their favorite college t-shirt on May 2. The goal is let the new generation and others know they are supported as they make college decisions and become career ready. GenTX is a state-wide initiative to raise awareness about college and to encourage people to apply for college.

† † † †The event is designed to encourage students, particularly†the graduating class of 2014 and adults considering returning to school, to think†about and/or get ready to attend college. A traditional college degree or a technical vocational path awaits those†who want to pursue an education and or training before hitting the job market.

† † † †"Wearing a college T-shirt is fun and easy to do, and when we all do it together we send a powerful message. Imagine if every person across Texas wears a college T-shirt on GenTX Day," Judy Jackson, Director of the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg, said. "Wearing a college t-shirt invites conversations for people to share their own personal stories, choices, and careers ? conversations that could inspire and change a student?s life."

† † † †College advisors and financial aid assistants will be†available on the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ campus to discuss the steps to register and opportunities†for covering the cost of college. There†will be GenTX††giveaways to help†encourage students to move toward college.†Those who don't have college t-shirts are welcome to stop by the ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ College Store to check out all of the great college gear for sale there.††Join in the fun and help inspire a new generation of Texans. For more information,†contact Judy Jackson at†jjackson@ntcc.edu†or call 903-434-8393. ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ is currently enrolling students for the May Intersession, Summer, and Fall 2014 semesters.
