Jackie Johnston (right) presents Marguerite Morris with a fruit and vegetable gift basket for being named ÂÒÉ«ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞÊÓƵӰԺ?s Fittest Employee†of the Month for April.†To receive this award, an employee must be caught practicing overt wellness behavior and attitude.†The Wellness Committee is on the lookout for a May recipient!
Here are a few words from Marguerite about her personal wellness plan...
I am so honored and humbled to be chosen as the ?Fittest Employee of the Month.?†My journey to becoming more fit actually began over fifteen years ago when my daughter and I participated in a weight loss program call First Place, which is very similar to Weight Watchers, but with a†Bible study included.†I reached my goal of being able to wear a certain size of clothes, but maintaining my weight in order to stay that size is always a struggle.†In fact, one of my daughters accuses me of being obsessed with my size and weight.†I suppose in a way that is true; however, my motivation is more than just vanity.†As I get closer to becoming a senior citizen, I want to be healthy and productive during those years, and the only way I can do that is to start as early as possible practicing a healthy lifestyle.†That is why I go to the gym six days a week and take tennis here at the college.†I enjoy exercising much more than I enjoy watching what I eat.†I constantly struggle with food choices; I know what is good for me and what is not.†My food selections are not always the healthiest; however, I have come to the realization that a healthy lifestyle is more of a mindset than it is about food choices.†I just live my life every day trying to do and eat those things that are good for me.†If I miss a day of exercising, or I eat something that I shouldn?t, I try not to be too hard on myself.†Tomorrow is another day. â€
